THE YACHTLINER November 2016
Yachtline's newsletter for clients
It has been a lovely autumn here in the UK, and it's hard to imagine that in a few weeks the sailing season will end. Perhaps climate change will in the future enable a longer season, but in the meantime, please remember to do all the necessary things to secure your boat over the winter months. And of course take advantage of the dark months to savour memories of this season and enjoy making plans for 2017!
New, cover for boats up to $10m in value
Due to Yachtline's great track record in underwriting and claims handling, we now have Lloyd's backing to offer cover for boats up to $10m in value, worldwide. This significantly grows our potential market and we are delighted. Chris, our international client manager, is off to Fort Lauderdale this week and will be telling brokers all about it.
Beware Diesel Bacteria
These chaps are also known as diesel fuel algae. They are present everywhere but when they find a home at the bottom of your fuel tank they can lead to reduced RPM or the engine stalling because of blocked filters. The blockage is most likely in rough weather when the sludge is stirred up from the bottom of the tank by the movement of the boat and makes this a real safety concern. For more on how to avoid this go to http://www.boatcoachbob.com/articles-boat-maintenance/engines-inboard/prevent-remove-diesel-algae/
Claim settled promptly by Yachtline
We've had some lovely feedback from a couple of clients recently who had the misfortune to damage their yacht, their pride and joy. They claimed on their insurance and afterwards wrote to thank us for our professionalism and help with settling the claim in a timely manner. It enabled them to get their boat back to its 'former glory'. That's good to hear.
